MOSSBACK DA HOLLA BACK ELK BUGLE An Easy to operate and simple to adjust single reed produces a full range of calls from basic bugles and grunts, to the very loud, full–throttle bugle for long distance and aggressive calling. Includes:
Lip Placement: Place your lips to the mouth piece in the area shown in the diagram. Top lip on the flat portion above reed, bottom lip against the reed itself. Remember too much lip contact on the reed will distort the bugle, too little lip contact and you cannot produce enough sound. Basic Bugle: Start with your mouth closed or slightly open. You want to blow into the bugle just as if you were blowing out a candle. Start with little to no lip pressure on the reed and make a low growling sound with your own voice into the bugle. The growl should last for only a brief moment. At this point you want to increase the air flow into the bugle and phase out the growl. Continue to increase air flow and slightly increase lip pressure on the reed. End call by quickly dropping the air flow and resuming the growl for a brief moment. Grunts: To produce grunts, start with a very short high note and end quickly with a low grunt sound made with your own voice. Changing Reeds: Place the new reed into the reed channel on the mouth piece. Hold the reed in place with your thumb and index finger on the sides of the mouth piece. Place o–ring in the first groove and roll it across the face of the mouth piece until it is in place. Repeat process for the second o–ring. Once in place, the reed should fit the channel with no gap on the top or bottom. Keep reed somewhat loose to slightly tight. approx. 21 1/2" in length $42.99 Da Holla Back Replacement Reeds Light and Heavy replacement reeds. These reeds can be used with Da Holla Back and Da Wild Thang Elk Bugles.
